January 18, 2006 Meeting: Energy Security, Solar Hot Water and More!
Solar Washington teams up Shoreline Solar Project for this combined presentation. *** CLEAN ENERGY INITIATIVE LAUNCHED! *** Washingtonians for Energy Security, has launched an initiative to help the state's economy, environment, and rural communities by assuring public utilities implement energy efficiency measures and purchase 15% of their power from clean and renewable resources. *** CY BERRYMAN, of the NW Energy Coalition will tell us about this new initiative for Washington State. Some 20 other states have already instituted Renewable Energy standards. *** MIKE NELSON, Director of the NW Solar Center and LARRY OWENS will explain new legislative efforts in Olympia to support and promote renewable energy. *** Representative MARALYN CHASE will report on State issues if she's able to attend. (The legislature will be in session) This is a great opportunity to learn how we can help the state become more energy independent, protect our environment and health, and improve the economy without raising taxes.

November 16, 2005 Meeting: Home Energy Load Analysis
** Back by Popular Demand! ** We got emails, calls, and lots of
discussion after this popular session so we're offering it again. AND,
we welcome Solar Washington for this combined evening event. We will
teach you how to conduct your own home energy audit, using a simple
load analysis worksheet. Knowing where your energy goes is the first
step in reducing waste, and the average American home wastes a lot of
energy! The "average American home" consumes about 30 kilowatt hours
per day. How and where is that energy used? What uses the most? DOOR
PRIZES! We'll have some door prizes to help you get started on making
your home more energy efficient. The fact is, there are some simple,
easy, painless ways to cut your home energy usage. If you're
considering adding solar power to your home, the first step is to learn
how much electricity you currently use, and (more importantly) where it
is being used or wasted. (And now is a great time to consider solar.
New 30% federal income tax credit kicks in as of 1/1/06).
