Northwest Mechanical, Inc. has been installing solar and radiant systems for over 25 years.  The company has a solar power division and heating system division. They specialize in solar electric, solar water heating, and solar pool heating systems as well radiant floor-heating system design, installation, service and repair.  Modern radiant heating systems are approximately 30% more energy efficient than forced air systems.

The Solar division of Northwest Mechanical is called “Smart Solar Solution”.  Smart Solar Solution has a corporate philosophy to "walk the talk". They have installed a 3.4 kW grid tied PV system and a 2.4 kW Made-in-Washington PV system with battery backup on the building. The upper awning consists of 18 Sanyo 190 W panels and the lower awning of 14 Silicon Energy 170 W modules.  “It is important for customers to see what these systems actually look like, and to learn how they operate, so our use-what-you-sell approach works very well.  In addition to the 2 solar electric systems on the building, a solar water heating systems is also installed over the entrance providing.

Local installations done by Northwest Mechanical include the 20.2 kW PV system and solar water heating system on the new Shoreline City Hall, the largest PV installation in the City.  They also installed a 16.4 kilowatt PV system with battery backup system which is the largest rooftop residential system in Seattle.  In addition to large system, NWM specializes in small, very affordable systems with as few as 5 solar panels.

Buzz Burgett, Owner:

Earl "Buzz" Burgett formed his first solar company almost 30 years ago, installing systems throughout the Seattle area.  In 1978, the three formed Energy Production Systems.  Buzz is a pioneer in solar systems, staying on top of all the latest technology and products available.  He currently serves on the board of Solar Washington and the company is also a member of Shoreline Solar Project.

“If your home is poorly insulated and very energy wasteful you should concentrate on those issues first, and then add solar when it can really do the most for you.”
